I'm passionate about designing great digital tools to help people succeed by catering them to the people most impacted by them. Tools are infused with invisible assumptions about how they can or should be used and oftentimes, even the smallest design elements growing over time can enable and accelerate people’s productivity and effectiveness or cause them to feel lost, disconnected and discouraged.

Learning foreign languages as a teenager provided some of my earliest experiences with perception. As a young child I was diagnosed with dyslexia and spent many years developing coping and decoding skills to overcome this learning challenge. Studying Spanish and Japanese in high school and college respectively heightened my awareness of the role systems play in people’s perceptions and their abilities to understand, learn and grow. Interestingly, many native Spanish speakers don’t realize they are dyslexic until they start learning a new language such as English.

My education background in psychology and design has been indispensable to understanding how people are affected by their environment, the systems and tools they use and identifying barriers to their success.
